The Abu-Ghaben family, with a multi-generational track record of running restaurants in the East Bay, is set to bring a new dining experience to Walnut Creek. The family's latest venture, Stillwater Inc., is set to take over the former Walnut Creek Yacht Club location at 1555 Bonanza Street.
According to a recent Alcoholic Beverage Control license application filed in July 2025, Stillwater Inc. will feature an on-site dining experience with a full bar. The liquor license status for Stillwater Inc. is currently pending, indicating that the restaurant is in development and awaiting final approvals.
If all goes well with licensing and renovations, Stillwater may debut in late 2025 or early 2026. The key owners involved are Rolla Zafer Abughaben, Fadi Zafer Abughaben, and Mustafa "Zafer" Abu-Ghaben. Rolla Ghaben, one of Stillwater's principals, is a co-owner of Lita, a Miami/Caribbean-inspired restaurant that opened in downtown Walnut Creek in 2022.
The family group also launched Batch & Brine in Lafayette in 2018, a world-cuisine craft kitchen and cocktail bar. With their pedigree and the restaurant's prime location, Stillwater is expected to be a significant addition to Walnut Creek's dining scene.
