A Well-Known Pizza Eatery in Walnut Creek Shuts Down After a Quarter-Century of Service

Walnut Creek, California - In a sad turn of events for pizza enthusiasts in Walnut Creek, Skipolini's Pizza & Pasta, located at 1535 Giammona Drive, announced its closure after a quarter-century of service. The information was communicated to patrons through a notice taped to the establishment's window, signed by owner-president Kent A. Ipsen.

The notice confirmed the sale of the Walnut Creek building and expressed gratitude for 25 years of patronage. The family-owned business mentioned pursuing an "extraordinary opportunity" in Sausalito, California, as the reason for this "temporary departure." However, the team is considering potential future locations within the city.

As of now, the closest dine-in Skipolini's can be found in Concord, Clayton, Antioch, and Oakley. The Concord kitchen will continue DoorDash deliveries to cater to Walnut Creek residents.

The exact reason for the restaurant's departure from Walnut Creek remains unclear, but it appears that resources are being redirected towards the new North Bay branch.

Founded in Clayton in 1974 and renowned for its loaded "Prego Pizza," Skipolini's had been a casual gathering spot for locals and their families, offering a small arcade/climbing structure area, traditional, and reasonably priced pizzas.

In the interim, pizza lovers can visit other East Bay locations, including the downtown Salvio Street store in Concord, the original Mount Diablo Street location in Clayton, Antioch, or Oakley. For those who prefer pizza establishments within Walnut Creek itself, the city is currently undergoing a pizza renaissance, with places like Slice House highly recommended.
