In the heart of Benrath, a transformative project is underway. Known as the "Hospital Street 1" project, it is set to breathe new life into the former Benrath Hospital site.

The municipal housing association (SWD) is spearheading the construction of six multi-family homes with a total of 91 apartments, which are expected to be completed by 2023. One of the key features of this project is the reservation of two-thirds of the apartments for a specific purpose.

The "Gemeinsam Leben" association, an active partner in shaping the concept, acquiring new tenants, and providing local services, has played a pivotal role in the realization of this project. The association, which has been advocating for the initiative since 2013, is also responsible for the introduction of a unique group living facility.

This facility, part of a multi-generational housing project, is designed to cater to the needs of elderly individuals who require care. AWO VITA gGmbH will manage this facility, which will offer round-the-clock care to eight elderly residents. The group living facility is a testament to the project's commitment to providing a future-oriented and sustainable housing concept, with affordable and barrier-free living space.

The project aims to offer a housing solution that caters to a diverse range of needs and lifestyles, making it a significant contribution to the community of Benrath. The "Hospital Street 1" project is not only about providing homes but also about fostering a sense of community and promoting independence for its tenants who require care.

It's an exciting time for Benrath as the "Hospital Street 1" project takes shape, promising a sustainable and inclusive future for its residents.

  1. The "Gemeinsam Leben" association, a crucial player in shaping the Benrath Hospital site redevelopment, is also responsible for the introduction of a unique lifestyle facility, which will cater to the financial needs of elderly individuals by offering affordable, barrier-free housing with round-the-clock care.
  2. In addition to the construction of six multi-family homes, the "Hospital Street 1" project plans to invest in a housing market niche, as two-thirds of the apartments will be reserved for elderly individuals requiring care, thereby contributing to the home-and-garden sector by catering to the unique lifestyles of this demographic.
  3. As part of the "Hospital Street 1" project, the group living facility will not only serve as a real-estate development but also as a platform for promoting independence, fostering a sense of community, and ensuring the financial sustainability of its elderly residents by providing affordable and care-intensive housing.
