In Lower Franconia, Mainbernheim's Anna Winkler, a 29-year-old sales manager and junior brewery employee, has been crowned the new Bavarian Beer Queen. The final competition took place in Munich, where she triumphed over her 64 rivals.

The jury narrowed down the contestants from 66 beer enthusiasts who participated in online voting during the previous weeks. The four finalists with the highest number of votes, around 26,000, demonstrated their knowledge and persona to the jury and audience.

One notable aspect of this year's selection process was the participation of a male candidate who applied for the role of queen, but was eliminated in the initial round because other criteria were not met, according to Walter König, spokesperson for the Bavarian Brewers' Association.

To qualify, applicants must be at least 21 years old due to the alcohol consumption aspect involved in the role. As an ambassador for the barley drink, the beer queen attends events where alcohol is served and should have Bavarian roots and a connection to beer and local traditions. The role also requires comfortable handling of public appearances.

Anna Winkler is the 14th Bavarian Beer Queen, chosen in 2025, hailing from the Kitzingen district, and triumphing over other finalists from Augsburg, Nördlingen, and Forchheim. The previous year's beer queen, Linnea Klee, was from Oberbayern.
