The 270th Bergkirchweih in Erlangen exceeded expectations yet again, as a "grand family festivity and a consistent crowd-puller" according to the city's announcements. Despite the occasional rain showers on the festive Pentecost days, the weather turned sunny, drawing throngs of revelers to the popular open-air event, renowned beyond Erlangen's city limits.

As the Bergkirchweih winds to an end on Monday evening (June 16, 2025) at midnight with the melodic tones of "Lili Marleen," the organizers share an overwhelmingly positive assessment.

Bergkirchweih 2025: Writers, Showmen, and Mayor Bask in the Festive Glow

Mayor Florian Janik (SPD) of Erlangen graced various events on the festival grounds, praising the atmosphere: "Our 'Berch' has been a gathering place for joy, festivities, and Franconian spirit, and I am elated that we experienced all this once more," Janik was quoted saying. "Writers and showmen have provided us with twelve days filled with camaraderie, tunes, and culinary delights," says Erlangen's mayor.

Konrad Beugel, the event manager for economics and finance, is also overjoyed, expressing gratitude that the adored event appealed to families and was secure in 2025, just before its conclusion. "The Bergkirchweih transcends the label of a mere folk festival - it is a living tradition that links generations." In keeping with a typical June Bergkirchweih, the weather showcased various elements - from rain to comfortable temperatures to scorching heat. These fluctuations affected the week's flow at times. "Despite the occasional turbulence, the feedback we received as organizers was astoundingly favorable," Beugel asserted.

Udo Helbig, spokesperson for the writers, shared that sales this year closely mirrored those of 2024. "A terrific and successful Bergkirchweih is about to conclude. After a mixed Pentecost weekend, the weather provided a delightful backdrop from Tuesday to Saturday. Attendance was impressive, and the mood was harmonious. However, the second Sunday saw a significantly lower turnout compared to 2024. "We eagerly anticipate a final push on Monday," Helbig said in a city announcement.

BRK: Record-Breaking Deployment of Support Services

Karl-Heinz Hartnagel, representing the South German Showmen's Association, remarked upon the Bergkirchweih 2025: "All things considered, we are pleased that the Bergkirchweih 2025 was another safe and peaceful affair among showmen. Although we suffered a minor setback in attendance figures due to the rain, we remain content. Visitors view us as an appealing, yet occasionally weather-dependent attraction."

The Worker-Samaritan Federation (ASB) reported being highly satisfied with the course of the 2025 Bergkirchweih. "Despite the unpredictable and at times rainy weather, the deployment volume remained steady, mirroring that of previous years," ASB spokesman Marc Clemenz explained. "Overall, our deployment forces delivered around 160 medical assistance services, with 11 patients requiring hospitalization for further treatment. This shows that we were well-prepared and able to respond quickly and effectively at all times."
