Bromley Unveils £17.45M Plan to Revitalise Crystal Palace Park by 2032
Bromley Council has unveiled ambitious plans to revitalise Crystal Palace Park. The £17.45 million project aims to redevelop two key sites: the Grade-II listed Italian Terraces and the Lower Paxton Axis. The project is expected to be completed by 2032, bringing social value and tourism to the area.
The project follows outline planning permission granted in 2021 by infrastructure consulting firm Aecom. It aims to restore the entire park, with upgrades planned for the Penge Gate and new kitchen and toilet facilities. The design team engaged for the renovation is J & L Gibbons, with work set to begin in late 2024.
Bids for the project are currently in the second round. They will be evaluated 40% on quality and 60% on cost. Meanwhile, Dalston and Hackney are also set for a revamp, with several council-owned sites to be developed into a mixed-use site for community facilities, commercial spaces, and a refurbished Hackney Central station.
Bromley Council's £17.45 million regeneration project for Crystal Palace Park is set to transform two key sites and bring new life to the area. With work expected to begin in late 2024 and completion slated for 2032, the project promises social value and tourism benefits. The project follows previous planning permission and is part of a wider council initiative to revitalise local areas.
