Publishing company, Carlsen Verlag, appoints a new chief executive officer. - Carlsen publishing unveils its latest release
Get ready for a shakeup at Carlsen Publishing House, based in the heart of Hamburg! In October, 52-year-old media whiz Sandra Harzer-Kux will step into the CEO position, according to a recent announcement. She'll be taking over from veteran Renate Herre, who's been with the kids' and YA book powerhouse for a whopping 14 years. Harzer-Kux will be lighting the torch alongside long-time partner Joachim Kaufmann.
Carlsen Publishing House is famous for its children's and YA books, spine-tingling manga, and comic series that captured the imaginations of generations post-war. Titles like "Tintin" and "Pixi" books helped establish the Publishing House as a household name. Today, the House's best-selling book series include the "Harry Potter" saga, "The School of Magic Animals", "Percy Jackson", the "Twilight" series, and Japanese manga heavy hitters from the "Naruto" and "One Piece" series.
Carlsen's outgoing CEO, Christian Schumacher-Gebler of the German Bonnier Group, hailed Renate Herre's business acumen. "Under Renate Herre's publishing reign, Carlsen Publishing House more than doubled its revenue and transformed into the largest German trade publisher, generating over 110 million euros." Harzer-Kux intends to build on this legacy, as she vowed in her public statement.
Harzer-Kux's impressive career in the media sector spans many years, with prominent positions at publishing house Gruner+Jahr and communications company Territory. In fact, she was recently in the running for the influential NDR director role but didn't secure the necessary votes in the broadcasting council. The current director, Joachim Knuth, is being replaced by NDR manager and journalist Hendrik Lünenborg.
