Children's Book 'The Mysterious Sea' to Reach Global Audience

The children's book 'The Mysterious Sea' by Birgit Wilms is set to reach a wider audience. Translations of the book, which tells a time-travel tale through Meerbusch's history, will be available in French, Japanese, Ukrainian, and English. The book, funded by the Sparkassenstiftung in the Rhein-Kreis Neuss, will not be sold but gifted to schools and kindergartens in Meerbusch and its partner cities.

The book, a discovery story featuring main characters Mia and Ben, covers Meerbusch's history, culture, and landmarks in a child-friendly way. Around 5,500 copies have been printed and will be distributed to schools and kindergartens in the area. To engage young readers further, a painting competition based on the book's story is being organized for Meerbusch's elementary schools. The artworks will be exhibited at the Sparkasse branch in Meebusch-Büderich, with an award ceremony attended by Mayor Christian Bommers. Winners of the competition will receive cash prizes for their class fund.

The book's translations will allow children in Meerbusch's partner cities to enjoy the story of Mia and Ben's time-travel adventure. The painting competition and exhibition provide an opportunity for young artists to showcase their creativity and engage with the book's themes. The book's distribution aligns with the sponsors' gift purpose, making it accessible to children without the need for purchase.
