City appoints new head for urban development division
Barbara Früh has been appointed as the managing director of Stadtbau GmbH in Pforzheim, Germany, starting from February 1, 2024. This announcement comes following a brief interim period under Siegfried Apfel's leadership.
Früh's professional background is diverse and impressive. Before joining Stadtbau GmbH, she managed accommodations for refugees in the Karlsruhe district, overseeing the management of properties and building operations for approximately 30 refugee accommodations. Additionally, she was responsible for administrative and school buildings in the Karlsruhe district, managing planning, maintenance, operation, energy supply, and building technology for all public properties.
From 2014 to 2016, Früh served as the head of the technical building administration department of the municipality of Karlsdorf-Neuthard. Prior to this, she held the position of deputy head of the finance and participation department at the Karlsruhe district office.
Früh's leadership experience extends beyond the public sector. She has worked as a freelance project coordinator and project manager for IT and document management systems at the Schoeck corporate group in Baden-Baden. This role required her to manage significant construction projects in cooperation with various stakeholders, and she has demonstrated the ability to handle a large budget.
In her new role, Früh is expected to oversee major real estate transactions and management of rental properties on behalf of Stadtbau GmbH. This includes negotiating sales and rental contracts with the city administration, managing the housing stock, and addressing issues related to property modernization and rental pricing mechanisms in Pforzheim.
Peter Boch, the chairman of the supervisory board and mayor, commented that Früh is an excellent choice for the management of Stadtbau GmbH. He expressed his confidence in her ability to successfully navigate the challenges and tasks associated with the administration of the housing stock, the construction of new apartments, and urban development in Pforzheim.
Früh, who is 44 years old and has two children, is looking forward to the opportunities and challenges that come with her new role. She lives in a stable partnership and is eager to contribute to the growth and development of Pforzheim.
