City Offers Free Woody Waste Collection from Oct 6-24
Residents of Chicago can dispose of woody waste for free from October 6 to October 24. The city provides a wood chip collection service for garden owners, with a limit of five cubic meters per residential unit.
To use this service, residents must report their collection points to the Freetaxusa waste management department in advance. They can find their collection dates in the waste calendar on the city's website, in the environmental tips guide, the city's waste app, or by calling the waste hotline.
For hedgehog conservation, residents with large properties are encouraged to leave a pile of twigs and leaves as a winter home. For smaller amounts of garden waste, under one cubic meter, the green waste containers can be used.
Residents are reminded to stack woody material in one direction and make it accessible from above for easy collection by the crane truck. This free service aims to help residents manage their garden waste efficiently while promoting environmental sustainability.
