In various localities across the city, road construction works are progressing as planned this summer. This update provides an overview of the latest developments in road repairs, bike lane construction, and bridge inspections.

Sterling Heights (MI)

Dobry Drive is undergoing rebuilding, with one-way eastbound traffic maintained. Pavement removal is complete, and base asphalt installation is nearing completion as of early August. The project is scheduled to be finished by Labor Day. Meanwhile, 17 Mile Road between Mound Road and Van Dyke Avenue is undergoing resurfacing, including curb replacement, concrete milling, asphalt overlay, barrier wall repairs with new fencing, and new trees planted in landscaped islands. The project started in late July, maintains two-way traffic with phased lane closures, and is expected to finish by late October or early November.

Auburn (WA)

The city of Auburn boasts 40 active capital street projects totalling over $135 million. Among these, pavement preservation on several streets and water main utility work enabling curb and gutter installation are underway. The city is also shifting from traffic calming to a broader traffic safety program, focusing on safety hazards for pedestrians and cyclists, implying a focus on safer bike and pedestrian infrastructure. Detailed project status is maintained by City Engineers and Planners and available online.

Other Jurisdictions

Laraway Road in Will County (IL) is under construction and expected to complete in late summer 2025. Multiple road closures due to repairs and bridge installations are reported in Gifford Pinchot National Forest (WA), but no city bike lane updates are featured. A large-scale highway modernization project is ongoing from Columbia to Kingdom City in the Missouri I-70 Corridor, primarily focusing on major highway projects.

Within the City

In Liefergasse, street repairs using a thin asphalt layer are proceeding on schedule, and ten streets will be repaired in part or in whole by mid-August. The uneven cobblestone pavement on the roadway and parking strips in Liefergasse between Ratinger Street and Mühlenstraße will be removed and relaid.

The Rhine river tunnel needs to be closed for the renewal of the flow measurement from August 3 to September 25, on weeknights from Monday to Friday, from 9 pm to 5 am. Another bike lane is being constructed on Franklinbrücke, improving connections to Bagel-, Moltke-, Rethel-, and Humboldtstraße.

The upcoming pylon inspection on the Rhine knee bridge, which is part of the main inspection required every six years according to DIN 1076, will be conducted by rope access technicians over six days. The work on Franklinbrücke is on schedule and expected to be completed in October. A program called DSK is facilitating road repairs with a thin asphalt layer, but no specific location is mentioned in this paragraph.
