Craft an enchanting Christmas table décor using seedheads and twisted hazel to create a stunning and festive spectacle

In the spirit of sustainability and natural elegance, this year's Christmas table centerpiece is all about dried flowers, branches, and wire. Here's a step-by-step guide to creating a stunning, eco-friendly design that will grace your holiday table.

**Step 1: Choose Your Materials**

Select a mix of dried flowers such as baby's breath, roses, or pampas grass for softness and colour. Add branches like pussy willow, twisted branches, or natural tree branches to provide structure and height. Use floral wire or thin craft wire to secure and arrange elements without bulky binding.

**Step 2: Prepare Your Base**

Start with a simple, low-profile vase or a natural container like a piece of burlap-wrapped foam or a shallow wooden box to keep the arrangement grounded but unobtrusive.

**Step 3: Arrange the Branches**

Insert branches vertically or at slight angles to create a natural framework, mimicking the shape of small tree branches or a minimal bouquet. Maintain some open spaces for a light, airy feel instead of densely packed stems.

**Step 4: Incorporate Dried Flowers**

Tuck the dried flowers gently between branches for pops of colour and texture. Use clusters sparingly to keep a minimal aesthetic. Attach some flowers to branches with thin wire to secure placement while preserving natural shapes.

**Step 5: Use Wire Wisely**

Wrap wire around stems discreetly to hold arrangements together without obvious ties. Create subtle loops or small spirals with wire to add structure or support delicate flower heads.

**Step 6: Add Final Touches**

Optionally weave small string lights around branches for gentle illumination and holiday warmth. Keep the overall palette neutral or soft – whites, natural browns, muted greens – to maintain a minimal look.

For a hanging centerpiece, a hook or command hook is needed. The metal ring used in this project has a diameter of 40cm. The twisted hazel branches used are from Corylus avellana. The project involves attaching branches to a circular metal wreath base, then adding small stems of peeled honesty (Lunaria annua) to the outer ends of the hazel branches.

Alternatives to peeled honesty include bunny's tail (Lagurus ovatus), pennycress (Thlaspi arvense), or nipplewort (Lapsana communis). Ethereal seedheads from Clematis 'Bill MacKenzie' are used in this project, but any clematis will work. The project requires thin gauge wire.

This approach highlights the organic beauty of dried materials, creating a centerpiece that is simple, sustainable, and elegant for the Christmas table.
