Hey there, I'm Denisa Jacobsen, and I've been with our bloomin' fantastic website since November 2019. My current duties include:

My journey here began as a project coordinator, a role that felt tailor-made for me, if ever a job was. Oh, and let me tell you about that fateful night when my twin tots were three! I stumbled upon our website's ad for a project coordinator, and just like that, I got the itch to shake things up in my career.

So, I put in the hard work to ace those interview rounds and landed the gig. The moment I set foot in this place, I knew I was home. From the get-go, I've been surrounded by a group of young guns who've been mentors, cheerleaders, and friends all at once.

Life here's been peachy keen, as I thrive in a structured, solid, appreciative environment that's brimming with purpose and drive.

My Early Steps

They say the first impression is crucial, and we certainly make quite an impression on new hires during the onboarding process. The demanding, diverse, and ever-changing industry is not for the faint of heart, but those willing to adapt and grow find a wealth of opportunities to thrive.

Five years, 1,425 days—every single one has been a brand new adventure here. Our organisational structure fosters open communication, allowing ideas to be pitched, debated, improved, and implemented, no matter the level of an individual.

The Challenges I've Faced

I've found my niche in live events, specifically in simultaneous interpreting, a field I love for its endless possibilities. Whether it's developing innovative solutions for clients or adapting to the ever-evolving technological landscape, I've got a soft spot for this precarious balancing act.

My first big challenge came on day two, when I took it upon myself to meet a client's urgent demand despite being cautioned that it was a long shot. Against all odds, I delivered. That win boosted my confidence and reminded me that collaboration is key in project management. Working together, reaching out to our global network of top-notch linguists, ensures clients feel heard, problems get solved, and everyone feels valued.

Stepping out of your comfort zone? It's a chance to grow, baby! Adapting to global conditions in the language service industry forces companies and employees to evolve and innovate constantly.

Crises come and go—pandemics, restructurings, and all. Each shake-up pulls us outside our comfort zones, forcing us to adapt and change. With competent and supportive leaders at the helm, obstacles are met with fresh approaches, better processes, and improved service.

My Ongoing Learning

Change wind direction, and my organised mind falls into a state of chaos. Faced with new information, altered processes, and competing priorities, I struggle to manage the storm that rages within. However, I've learned to tough it out and trust that the norming phase will eventually set in, bringing order from chaos.

Consistency has been my saving grace, whether it's sticking to my gym schedule or structuring my responsibilities for maximum efficiency. But no matter how well I think I've got things under control, new duties demand new skills and a more sophisticated approach to time management.

I've got a soft spot for the incredible professionals I get to work with, whether it's remotely or not. They're the ones who do the heavy lifting, and it's my job to set the stage for their brilliance. The relationships I've formed with these talented individuals are the foundation of my success here.

Secondly, I am indebted to my wonderful colleagues and the support system within our organisation. They've helped me exceed our customers' expectations at every turn. From project management peeps to the gifted linguist management crew, everyone's got my back, and I couldn't succeed without 'em!

Lastly, I've got nothing but admiration for the higher-ups who lead our organisation with vision and purpose. Their guidance and support have been instrumental in my career growth, and their commitment to nurturing talent within the company is inspiring.

Looking Back

Five years in, and I'm filled with gratitude for the opportunities I've been given and the growth I've experienced. I've tackled some of the most challenging processes and reached my—and the company's—goals, all thanks to the trust and guidance of our management team.

And while I admit I can get a little envious of the younger generation's ability to constantly reinvent themselves, I stand firm in my belief that professional development requires dedication, persistence, and talent. Relationship-building takes time, and that's a investment I'm willing to make.
