Dusseldorf undergoes a cleanup process:
The city of Düsseldorf is gearing up for its annual community clean-up day, known as the "Dreck-weg-Tag," taking place on March 25, 2023. This event, now over 20 years old, encourages citizens, schools, and kindergartens to join forces and help tidy the city, promoting environmental responsibility and community spirit.
Registration for the upcoming "Dreck-weg-Tag" is open for individuals, local groups, schools, and kindergartens. Participants can sign up via the official website www.dreck-weg-tag.de. By registering, organizers can plan for materials and assign cleanup areas accordingly.
On the day of the event, volunteers will gather at designated collection points across the city. This year, two central collection and material distribution points will be set up: at the foot of the Oberkasseler Bridge (left bank) and on Staufenplatz in Grafenberg (near the Staufenplatz bus stop). Here, participants can pick up cleaning supplies such as gloves and bags, and receive instructions on their assigned zones for litter collection.
Many schools and kindergartens are actively involved, organizing groups of children and supervising adults to collect trash in their local surroundings. This participation not only helps keep the city clean but also educates the younger generation about environmental stewardship and community involvement.
The "Dreck-weg-Tag" initiative has gained significant support over the years. The Postcode Lottery is the main sponsor, and its employees participate in the event. Pro Düsseldorf is offering two prizes of 500 euros each for schools and kindergartens that email photos of their collection drive to them by March 31.
Stadtsparkasse Düsseldorf is also offering a pick-up option for groups of up to 9 people at Steinstraße 17 on March 22 and 23 from 12 pm to 7 pm and on March 24 from 10 am to 3 pm.
Martina Voss-Tecklenburg and enkelson have lent their support as this year's faces for the initiative. Renate Böhm, a city representative, emphasizes the initiative's contribution to general awareness-raising.
In addition to the clean-up efforts, the "Dreck-weg-Tag" also focuses on waste avoidance. A stand will be set up during the event to promote this aspect.
The motto of the "Dreck-weg-Tag" is "Give trash its day." Over 10,000 volunteers have participated in the event so far, demonstrating the city's commitment to maintaining a clean and sustainable environment.
For those interested in joining the "Dreck-weg-Tag," registration is open and details about the specific collection points, participating schools and kindergartens, and other event information will be provided closer to the event date. The winners of the Pro Düsseldorf prizes will be drawn by lottery, with more information available at www.pro-duesseldorf.de. The initiative provides trash bags and gloves for participants, ensuring a safe and efficient clean-up day.
