Oberburg Giebichenstein Castle Ruins Open to the Public Until November 2
The historic Oberburg Giebichenstein castle ruins in Halle (Saale), Germany, are now open to visitors until November 2. The castle ruins, which date back to the oldest castle on the Saale, offer a unique glimpse into the region's past.
Visitors can explore the castle ruins from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM on weekdays and from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM on weekends and holidays. The castle ruins do not charge a separate fee for general visits, but a participation fee of 2 euros is required for the guided tour.
The guided tour explains the rich history of the castle ruins and is suitable for visitors aged 14 and up. Interactive offerings are also available for this age group, adding an engaging element to the tour. Children up to 14 years old can participate in the interactive offerings for a fee of 5 euros for materials.
On September 21, the city of Halle (Saale) is hosting a family afternoon at Oberburg Giebichenstein from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM. The theme of the family afternoon is "Wax tablet instead of notebook," where participants will have the opportunity to make their own wax tablets as they were made in the Middle Ages. No registration is required for this event, and it is open to visitors outside the family afternoon event.
A traditional Sunday tour of the area managed by the city museum begins at 11:00 AM. This tour is free of charge and does not require registration.
The castle ruins will remain open later on weekends and holidays, offering visitors ample opportunity to explore this historic site.
