Exhibition "Belle Wi" resumes its showcase

The Office for Social Work in Wiesbaden is presenting everyday solutions for designing comfortable and barrier-free apartments in a model exhibition at www.our website.de/belle-wi. This exhibition, reflecting current best practices in inclusive housing design, is open for individual visitors without registration.

Located at Schlossplatz 6, 65183 Wiesbaden, the model exhibition focuses on universal design principles that ensure accessibility and usability for all people, including those with disabilities. Some of the key features include:

  • Spatial clearances and mobility features such as wide doorways (at least 36 inches) to accommodate wheelchairs, ramps instead of stairs, and automatic or easy-to-operate doors.
  • Clear navigation and separation between public, private, and emergency spaces to enhance ease of use.
  • Appropriate materials and finishes to avoid hazards such as glare or slippery floors, and balanced lighting and acoustics for sensory comfort.
  • Furniture adapted for a range of body sizes and abilities, like chairs with arms and appropriate seat heights.
  • Accessibility features such as braille signage for the visually impaired and visual alerts for the hearing impaired.
  • Attention to neurodiversity and mental health needs by considering cognitive accessibility and calming interior design.

These solutions ensure apartments are not only physically barrier-free but also cognitively and sensory inclusive, supporting comfort and independence for all residents.

The model exhibition, covering approximately 200 square meters, is open on Tuesdays from 2 PM to 6 PM and on Thursdays from 1 PM to 5 PM. Registration is only required for groups visiting the exhibition, and it is free for visitors. The exhibition showcases various aids, technical products, and renovation measures.
