Film Screening: The Super Mario Bros. Movie (2023) - (Mar. 9, 3:00 pm CT)
Join us for a captivating journey through the world of games with our Level Up Film Series. Inspired by our special exhibit Level Up: Writers & Gamers, these films pay tribute to the art of storytelling in games and highlight the immersive nature of gaming. In May, the featured film is The Super Mario Bros. Movie, where Mario and Luigi team up to save a captive princess from an underground labyrinth.
Get Lit: Pub Night (May 11, 5:30 pm CT)
Celebrate Irish American writers and the pubs that have inspired them at our May Get Lit event. Participate in pub trivia, arts & crafts, and the Leprechaun Hunt. To secure your spot, purchase your tickets now.
Get Lit events take place the second Tuesday of every month from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm. Each month features a unique theme, so check our website for upcoming Get Lit events and be sure to check back regularly as we announce more events throughout the year.
March Free Museum Day (May 16, 10:00 am - 5:00 pm CT)
Join us for a free day at the American Writers Museum, where you can enjoy access to all exhibits, including our current special exhibit Level Up: Writers & Gamers. Additionally, children can participate in the special Little Squirrels Storytime at 11:30 am with no prior registration required.

Level Up: Writers & Gamers
Visit our current temporary exhibit, Level Up: Writers & Gamers, and delve into the intersection of game writing and American culture. This exhibit, extended through November 2, 2025, showcases the role narrative and storytelling play in gaming. The exhibit is designed to inspire young learners to try new forms of writing and engage in the worlds created through games.
Level Up is on display through May 5, 2025, and is included with museum admission. The museum is open Thursdays through Mondays from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm CT. The museum is closed Tuesdays and Thursdays. Plan your visit today.
