Kate Nycz, a 39-year-old Pennsylvania native, has been delighting locals with her baking skills since 2017. Her bakery, North South Baking Company, is a popular spot in Covington, Kentucky, known for its unique creations like cruffins and signature Blueberry Cheese Danish.

Nycz's journey into baking began after she dropped out of The Art Institute of Philadelphia, where she was studying Fashion Design. She started her business in 2017 and now employs a staff of 12-14 people, including full and part-time workers.

The bakery, closed on Mondays and Tuesdays, offers a variety of products from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. on weekdays and until noon on weekends. Nycz sells her goods every Sunday at the Hyde Park Farmer's Market. She uses locally grown grain for her bread, including popular sourdough varieties. Among her creations, cruffins - a hybrid of croissant and muffin - are a customer favourite.
