German authorities urged to contribute to discussions surrounding the proposed budget.
The popular Glühwein hut in Wersten, a beloved meeting point during the Christmas season, will be closing its doors after this Sunday, 4th January. The hut, located at the green area between Burscheider Straße, Werstener Feld, and Kölner Landstraße, has been standing since 20th November.
On its last day, the hut will be open from 5 PM, offering wine from the Ahr region. The remaining stock of drinks will be sold with the motto "everything must go". The last day also marks a special Christmas tradition organized by Dirk Rauchmann, the hut owner.
A unique event taking place on the same day is a Christmas tree throwing competition. Anyone who has an undecorated natural Christmas tree can participate from 6:30 PM to 7:30 PM. There will be a "competition tree" available for spontaneous participation.
This special tradition is similar to the custom of eating the sweets from the decorated Christmas tree on 6th January. This year, the event is a fundraiser for those affected by the 2021 flood disaster. The organization collecting donations on the last day of the mulled wine hut operation is not specified, but the fundraising campaign is for the victims of the disaster.
Despite being over a year since the disaster, the situation for the affected people is still not fully resolved. The Glühwein hut in Wersten is doing its part to help, inviting everyone to come and support the cause on its last day.
The Glühwein hut in Wersten has been a cherished part of the community during the festive season, and its closing marks the end of a beautiful tradition. However, it serves as a reminder of the spirit of community and support that continues to thrive in Wersten.
