Prepare for an extraordinary experience as the Theater am Goetheplatz in Bremen presents the musical "Der 35. Mai," based on Erich Kästner's beloved children's book, from October 20th at 6 PM.

A highlight of the production is a colossal horse head sculpture, perched on the balcony, which was inspired by the circus horse Negro Kaballo. The horse head, three metres tall, was crafted from Styrofoam blocks and sculpted using a chain saw. A unique touch has been added to the sculpture today, as it now sports two legs with roller skate hooves that dangle over the balcony edge.

The musical, suitable for audiences of all ages, is a theatrical adaptation that promises to capture the imagination of both children and adults alike. The story revolves around the main character, Konrad, who struggles with writing an essay for school, seemingly due to a lack of imagination, despite his prowess in mathematics.

In addition to the horse head sculpture, the foyer of the theatre features an exhibition showcasing works by juvenile and adult inmates of the JVA Bremen. These artworks have been inspired by the content of the play and are part of workshops supported by Mauern öffnen e.V. The exhibition will run until November 25th, 2024, and admission is free.

However, it should be noted that, as of now, no public announcements or press coverage appear available regarding a specific art exhibition by JVA Bremen inmates related to "Der 35. Mai" or Theater am Goetheplatz. For more information about any upcoming events, it is advisable to visit the official websites or social media channels of Theater am Goetheplatz Bremen, Justizvollzugsanstalt (JVA) Bremen, and local cultural event listings in Bremen.
