Handcrafted Driftwood Accessory Rack for DIY Jewelry Organization
Hey there! Let's get started on making a cool driftwood jewelry hanger for your walls. No fancy skillset required, just a little know-how on using a drill and screwing stuff into wood.
Spring is in the air and organization is key! After going through the purge, I've realized I needed a jewelry hanger for my most-worn pieces. My mother-in-law had this fantastic driftwood lying around, so it seemed perfect for this project.
If you don't live near the beach, don't fret! You can easily find driftwood on platforms like Etsy.
Here's what you'll need for this home decor project:
- Driftwood piece
- Crystal knobs
- Drill, 3/16′′ bit
- Flat nose pliers
- Dremel Rotary Tool (optional)
- Picture hanger
- Screws or eye hooks - 2
- Jute string
- Sharpie
- Tape measure
- Wood glue (optional)
This project gives off austere vibes, making it an excellent choice for minimalist, boho chic, or beach-loving peeps. Here's a step-by-step guide:
Driftwood Jewelry Hanger
1### Equipment
- Drill with drill bits including 3/16′′ bit
- Flat nose pliers
- Dremel tool optional
- Picture hanger with nail
- Hammer
- Scissors
- Tape measure
Materials
- 1 Driftwood piece
- 3 Crystal knobs
- 2 Screws or eye hooks
- Jute string
- 1 Sharpie(s)
- Wood glue optional
Instructions
- Clean your driftwood with a damp cloth and let it dry.
- Using a tape measure, decide where to place the knobs. They should be around 6 1/2" apart. Mark the locations with a Sharpie.
- Select the knobs for your project, then drill a pilot hole at each marked location. This prevents the wood from cracking.
- Change the drill bit to match the size of your knobs' screws and drill holes to widen them.
- Attach the knobs by drilling through the back of the driftwood and securing them with screws. Use the flat nose pliers to shave off any excess wood at the back of each knob.
- For a level hang, use screws or eye hooks to attach the hanger to the topmost stable surface of the driftwood. Add strength by using 3/4" screws. If necessary, use 1 or 1 1/2" screws.
- To hang your jewelry, tie the jute string to the hooks and secure it with a picture hanger.
