In the heart of Sterkrade, Oberhausen, a new Smart House has been unveiled, marking a significant step towards enhancing the lives of seniors and people with disabilities in the city.

The Smart House, a brainchild of the Social Democrats, was officially opened on Friday. Hans-Günter Wrobel, spokesperson of the SPD in the senior council, and Stefan Welbers, director of the senior center "Gute Hoffnung leben", were both present at the opening ceremony.

The Smart House is designed to serve as a hub where seniors and people with disabilities can learn about technical and digital aids for daily life, aiming to enable them to live independently for as long and as well as possible throughout the city of Oberhausen.

Ercan Telli, social policy spokesperson of the SPD faction, expressed his satisfaction with the opening, yet emphasised the need to observe the development and response to the Smart House. Telli also promised that the politicians from the senior council and the AG 60 Plus of the SPD will continue to push for this goal.

The city of Oberhausen and care provider "Gute Hoffnung leben" collaborated on the project, with the next five years secured due to their cooperation. If the Smart House proves successful, there could be similar offers in other parts of Oberhausen, such as Alt-Oberhausen and Osterfeld.

However, at present, the Smart House in Sterkrade is the only offer of its kind in the city. While there are ongoing smart building innovation and digitalization efforts in Germany, there is no clear information on additional Smart House developments specifically in Oberhausen following the Sterkrade project. More targeted or local sources would be necessary to confirm any such plans.

In conclusion, the Smart House in Sterkrade marks a significant step towards improving the lives of seniors and people with disabilities in Oberhausen. The success of this project could pave the way for similar initiatives in other parts of the city. The politicians of the SPD faction have pledged to continue their efforts to make such initiatives a reality.

  1. The Smart House, a collaboration between the city of Oberhausen and care provider "Gute Hoffnung leben", features home-and-garden gadgets and smart-home devices, aimed at educating seniors and individuals with disabilities about the latest technology that can aid their daily lives.
  2. The Smart House serves as a hub where lifestyle enhancements through technology, such as digital aids and devices, are showcased, enabling residents to live independently for longer and improving their quality of life.
  3. With the success of the Sterkrade Smart House, there is potential for similar initiatives featuring smart-home devices and the latest technology to be introduced in other areas of Oberhausen, like Alt-Oberhausen and Osterfeld, strive to advance the city's home-and-garden and gadgets sector.
