The town of Wartberg is set to undergo an exciting transformation, as plans are in motion for the expansion and renovation of its popular Panoramabad swimming pool complex.
The project, titled "Panoramabad Wartberg," will see the addition of new facilities to cater to a wider range of swimmers, including a non-swimmer pool and a toddler wading pool. The outdoor pool area will retain its main features, such as the swimming pool, diving pool, and 10-meter diving tower.
The new indoor pool area, budgeted at approximately 53 million euros, will be a significant part of the renovation. It will feature a 25-meter swimming pool, a leisure pool, a teaching/swimming pool, diving boards, a toddler wading pool, a spray park, and a slide with a landing pool. The first floor will also house a 550-square-meter sauna landscape.
On the rooftop, the "Panorasauna" will measure 40 square meters and will include an indoor catering facility. The entire complex will be a "terraced" structure with panoramic windows, arranged on the southern side of the Wartberg pool site.
The architectural firm asp architects has been tasked with the design of the project, aiming to retain the character and quality of the pool while ensuring sustainability through new technology.
Mayor Peter Boch and First Mayor Dirk Büscher have been leading the developments around the Wartberg swimming pool site. The town council must give final approval for financing and construction, which Büscher aims to achieve by the first quarter of 2024.
The earliest completion date for the combined baths is 2027, but this is contingent on everything going according to plan. The outdoor pool renovation will occur after the indoor pool construction, likely outside of the outdoor pool season.
One of the challenges faced during the planning phase was bridging the deep divides between supporters and opponents of the "combi-bath" solution. Despite this, the design guarantees an implementation that meets all the needs and demands of the city.
Lutz Schwaigert, a key figure in the project, has set a target opening date of May 2027, but emphasizes the need for caution with the renovation of the outdoor pool. The first tenders could be issued at the beginning of 2025.
However, as of 2023, no specific information about the current status of the Panoramabad Wartberg project, including updates on construction progress, financing, or opening dates, could be verified. For the most current status, consulting official local government websites or the project's official communication channels directly may be necessary.
The new indoor pool area, part of the Panoramabad Wartberg project, will provide a variety of facilities for diverse swimming enthusiasts, including a 25-meter swimming pool, a leisure pool, a teaching/swimming pool, and a toddler wading pool. In addition, the transformation of the home-and-garden aspect of the town will be enhanced with the rooftop Panorasauna, featuring an indoor catering facility.
