Immediate concern for parents as a troubling school fad spreads across the country
In recent times, a bizarre trend has been gaining traction on social media platforms, particularly TikTok. The trend, known as the "Pissers" TikTok trend, involves individuals urinating in public places, including school campuses.
According to a public relations professor, such content often attracts attention online as it tends to break social norms. This trend has been reported on various platforms, with one account called 'Syracuse Pissers' posting videos of people urinating against stone walls on campus. However, it's important to note that the authenticity of these videos has been questioned, with some suggesting they may be staged for views.
The State University of New York (SUNY) system has not been immune to this trend, with students posting themselves urinating with the hashtag '#SUNYpissers'. The principal of Schoo Middle School in Lincoln, Nebraska, Allysa Diehl, has addressed this issue and developed measures to combat it. However, no other specific schools in the United States have been identified as having similarly instructed their school authorities to tackle this trend.
The Bristol Connecticut Police Department has issued a public statement on Facebook, asking for help in identifying people allegedly peeing across the city. This behaviour is not only unsanitary but also illegal, as it is unlawful in every state to relieve oneself in public.
Lucy Leef, a freshman, expressed skepticism about the authenticity of the videos, questioning whether people are truly participating or faking it for views. The News House, Syracuse University's college newspaper, reported on the various accounts disseminating these activities and their impact on campus life.
Principal Diehl stated that this behaviour is unsafe, unsanitary, and creates unnecessary work for staff maintaining clean school spaces. It's a reminder that while social media can be a platform for creativity and expression, it's crucial to respect the laws and norms of society, and to consider the potential consequences of our actions.
