Join Historic Hike on Oct 19 to Celebrate German Reunification
Join the Geisa Land branch of the CDU on October 19, 2025, for a historic guided hike celebrating the 35th anniversary of German reunification. The six-kilometer trek, led by Hubert Kritsch, begins at 13:00 from 'Heile Schern' in Spahl and explores the region's past, including remnants of the former restricted area and the Seeleshof farm.
The hike starts at 'Heile Schern' in Spahl and heads towards Apfelbach. Along the way, hikers will learn about life in the former restricted area from guide Hubert Kritsch. The route continues to the historic Seeleshof, where remnants of the former farm still stand. Here, eyewitness Domkapitular Bruno Heller will share stories about the farm's history and destruction. The hike then proceeds towards Walkes, where Paul and Norbert will recount their story of escaping the border. After the hike, hikers are invited to the Jugendclub Walkes for refreshments and conversation from 15:30 onwards. A shuttle service will be provided around 17:00 to take hikers back to Spahl.
