London's Restaurant Sketch reveals its latest vibrant, imaginative art installation – an atmosphere brimming with upliftment and positivity.
In the heart of London, the renowned restaurant sketch has unveiled a new art and design exhibition titled "¡hola, London!". The exhibition, which runs from September 18 to November 11, 2022, features the captivating "El Charco" installation by Daniel Valero, the founding designer of the whimsical studio practice Mestiz.
"El Charco" is a unique immersive graphic design installation that blurs the boundaries between nature and design, folklore and modernity. The installation infuses a fresh dose of wonder into the institution's color-blocked hallways, creating mystical spaces where the ordinary becomes extraordinary.
Daniel Valero, based in San Miguel de Allende and part of AGO Projects' Mexico City roster of designers, has charged each large-scale piece in the "El Charco" graphic design installation with folkloric symbolism, natural connection, and storied artistry. The installation includes crocodile-passing wicker shelves (or stools), hand-painted plant motifs, towering cacti-shaped totems, and knitted, eye-catching banners.
Mestiz's handwoven, wavy wicker lampshades, quirky ceramics, and creaturesque wool experimentation are also featured in the exhibition. The objects in the "El Charco" graphic design installation are handmade using local materials and time-honored techniques, reflecting Valero's commitment to preserving traditional craftsmanship.
The "El Charco" graphic design installation is one of the coolest design exhibitions in London right now, and it's not just about visual appeal. The exhibition serves as a reminder that creatives who don't take themselves too seriously often unite and inspire us when we need it most.
In partnership with PATRÓN® Tequila, the exhibition offers bookable music-fueled cocktail nights for the duration of the event, adding an extra layer of excitement to the graphic design experience.
The exhibition spans sketch London's entrance and reception areas, as well as the roof of its surreal East Bar & Pods nook. "¡hola, London!" is the first UK exhibition of Mexico City and New York's creative platform AGO Projects, and it's a must-see for anyone looking for a unique and immersive art and graphic design experience in London.
So, if you're in London between September 18 and November 11, be sure to drop by sketch London and immerse yourself in the magical world of "El Charco".
