One of the standout features of the Delos Explorer 53 is its Gunboat-style forward sailing cockpit at the base of the mast area. This design feature allows for the boat to be conned from inside during bad weather, thanks to the full watch-keeping station, including a wheel, at the front of the saloon. The boat also boasts a full-height door connecting the forward sailing cockpit to the bridgedeck saloon, enhancing ventilation when at anchor.
The Delos Explorer 53 is replacing a 53ft Amel Super Maramu ketch Delos. The new yacht's propulsion system consists of a parallel hybrid-electric setup, featuring a single 80hp diesel engine and twin 25kW electric motors capable of hydrogeneration while sailing.
The arrangement of the outdoor galley is inspired by years of cooking and entertaining in the tropics. It features an unusually comprehensive outdoor galley at the aft end of the main cockpit. This includes refrigeration, sink, barbecue/stove, fish filleting and preparation station, and stowage for six dive bottles and a liferaft.
