This July, the picturesque town of Neuwied, Germany, is set to host a unique cultural experience. On the 26th and 27th of July, the town by the dyke will come alive with the "Bienvenue" event, featuring a French Market and a special Sunday shopping event.
The French Market, a seasonal delight, will offer a taste of France right in the heart of Germany. From 10 am to 6 pm on the 26th and 11 am to 6 pm on the 27th, around 40 vendors will set up stalls, showcasing a variety of French specialties. Visitors can look forward to savoring glasses of wine, fresh crêpes, and warm quiche in numerous seating areas under shady trees.
The market will feature a wide array of French delicacies, including Alsatian Flammkuchen, cheese specialties, air-dried sausage, and handcrafted products. Fashion accessories like hats, caps, ponchos, jewelry, perfumes, soaps, and decorative items will also be available for purchase.
To add to the authentic French atmosphere, Sylvain Pesenti, a renowned accordion player, will stroll through the area, providing French street music. The market aims to convey a feeling of tranquility and enjoyment of all senses.
While the city's shops will remain closed on the 27th, the streets will be open for a leisurely stroll through the Neuwied city center. This shopping event invites people to explore the city center on the 27th, offering a unique blend of French culture and local charm.
It's worth noting that the French Market will not take place on the 27th as part of the Sunday shopping event. Instead, the first Sunday of Advent, November 30th, will host a stroll through the Neuwied city center instead.
For those interested in sports, a pétanque court will be provided for both beginners and passionate players. The court will be open throughout the event, offering a fun and engaging activity for visitors.
