Medieval ambiance in Heusenstamm: knights, artisans, and jester antics on the castle grounds
Get ready for a journey back in time as Schönborn Castle prepares to host a medieval market this weekend. Over 50 stalls will showcase traditional craftsmen, demonstrating their ancient trades such as shoemaking, pottery, and leatherworking.
Visitors can immerse themselves in the atmosphere of the Middle Ages, with musical groups "Capud Draconis" and "Krless" providing bagpipe and drum performances to set the tone. For those with a taste for history, medieval specialties like bull ribs and filled flatbreads can be enjoyed in the taverns or at Café Historica.
To ensure a smooth visit, two entrance areas have been set up: via the main entrance to the castle and via the access from the Wiesenbornweg. This measure aims to avoid long waiting times and make the experience more enjoyable for all.
The medieval market will be open on Saturday from 12 to 22 hours and on Sunday from 11 to 18 hours. Entrance fee for adults is eight euros, while children and those in costume pay just four euros.

The cultural program promises to be just as engaging, with juggler "Hubertus the Wanderer" and storyteller "The Flying Dutchman" providing entertainment. A special program for young visitors has been prepared, including a manually operated carousel, Harlequin games, and archery.
On Saturday evening around 20 hours, the "Duo Infinity" from Stuttgart will perform a fire show as a special highlight. Mead can be paired with the medieval cuisine, and exotic wares such as incense, silver jewelry, gemstones, toys, and chainmail will be sold by travelling merchants.
