Craving for splashy, slippery fun under the sun? The long-awaited comeback of the thrill-inducing water park "Miramar" nestled in Weinheim, Rhein-Neckar district, is finally marching towards mid-June! That's right — the pool party central has been delayed once more due to a devastating fire in December, but the good news is, it's now confirmed for June 16th! COVID-19 hadn't even derailed its operations, but a blaze of this magnitude sure did!

The financial blow of the fire, initially estimated at around 10 million euros, has ballooned into a whopping 20 million euros, leaving nothing but ashes in its wake. Scorching parts of the water park and the salt and crystal therapy area, it's been a rough ride for the pool and its patrons.

Investigations confirm that a technical hiccup was the match that ignited this destructive inferno. An announcement made by the park spokesperson sheds light on the disheartening truth - parts of the building's foundation might need to be salvaged to bring back the cherished aquatic playground.

By June 16th, only the residential slides and sauna area will be reinstated. The precious healing therapy area, though, will take longer to reach its former glory and will return in December.

The park spokesperson openly admits that the damaged was far greater than initially thought. Managing Director Lara Steinhart echoed this sentiment, explaining that the extensive damage to changing rooms and sanitation facilities had made the initial reopening plan unfeasible, pushing back the date to April and eventual rescheduling to June.

Despite the heartbreaking downfall, Miramar is bouncing back with a plan to invest an additional 1.8 million euros in renovation and updates, like resorting the thrilling slide tower. The fire may have crippled Miramar, but it won't dampen the spirit of fun!

Grim figures reveal that the fire caused a staggering loss of approximately 9 million euros in revenue and led to temporary layoffs for about 200 employees, although no permanent staff members have been let go.

Annually, Miramar was a Swimmy Award-winning water paradise welcoming around 700,000 visitors, offering an expansive water park crammed with slides, a lavish sauna area, an outdoor zone featuring a sandy beach beside a serene lake, and healing therapy facilities, "Miramar" is the gem of the Rhein-Neckar District. Post-renovation, it's expected that visitors will continue to enjoy the "Miramar" experience without a hike in ticket prices.
