Jumpstart in the Alps: Munich's Mountain Bus Kicks Off at Pentecost with Fresh Perks

Mountain Bus Service in Munich Introduces Changes from Pentecost - Mountain bus services in Munich will introduce innovations from Pentecost onwards.

Gear up for an exciting adventure in the heart of Bavaria! The wait is finally over as Munich's Mountain Bus revs up for the 2025 season, coinciding with the Pentecost holidays. Apart from weekends, this year, intrepid travelers can seize the opportunity to explore popular excursion destinations on public holidays too.

According to Munich's Transport Association (MVV), outdoor enthusiasts hailing from the bustling city can embark on alpine escapades, courtesy of the free-to-use Germany ticket. For those without the Germany ticket, the usual MVV fares apply.

Starting from the festive Pentecost holidays through to All Saints' weekend, the revamped schedule promises an extended ride to the snow-capped peaks from early November. Plus, passenger convenience gets a boost with enhanced travel information.

Join the crowds flocking to the resplendent royal castles nestled in the Allgäu region. Weekends and public holidays will see the Mountain Bus ferrying visitors to scenic spots such as Pfronten in Ostallgäu, Bayrischzell, and Thiersee in Tyrol. Each route offers two round trips daily, and seat reservations can be secured hassle-free via the MVV app's booking tool.

The Mountain Bus lines were incorporated within the MVV family last year, emerging from the German Alpine Association's pilot project in 2021. The demonstration's financial support now comes from the city of Munich, the districts of Miesbach and Ostallgäu, and the Free State, which covers any shortfall in operating costs not met by ticket sales.

Numbers don't lie, and the MVV's statistics show that over 7,000 adrenaline junkies cashed in on the Mountain Bus lines to set foot in the Alps last season. Top attractions from the coveted lineup included the Tegelberg cable car, tantalizingly close to Neuschwanstein Castle, and the picturesque Gasthof Baeckeralm in Bayrischzell, near the Austrian border.
