Musical Spectacle: Once at the Cerritos Center for Performing Arts - Don't Miss Out!

The Cerritos Center for the Performing Arts (CCPA) is set to open its 2019-2020 Broadway Performance Partner Series with a bang, as 3-D Theatricals presents the heartfelt and musical production of "Once, The Musical." This stage adaptation of the 2007 film "Once" will run from October 11 to October 27, 2019.

The story revolves around a street musician in Dublin who crosses paths with a Czech immigrant, and together they create music and develop a unique friendship that evolves into a powerful but complicated love story. The live music performed by the cast onstage primarily conveys themes of love, loss, and hope.

The production features a book by Enda Walsh, and music and lyrics by Glen Hansard and Markéta Irglová. Kari Hayter directs and Linda Love Simmons choreographs this moving production.

The cast includes Aurora Florence as the immigrant girl and Tom Frank as the heartbroken Irish guitarist. Other stars in the production include Chuck McLane, Katherine Washington, Cynthia Marty, Scott Waara, Andy Taylor, David Coe Lamoureux, Andrew Huber, Cameron Tagge, Erich Schroeder, Leota Rhodes, and Quinn Copeland.

The unique configuration of the play, with the stage in the middle of the venue's main floor, has not been used at the CCPA for 18 years. This setup provides a unique viewing experience for the audience, as the stage moves in a round-about fashion.

3-D Theatricals is no stranger to launching its season with a Tony Award-winning musical. "A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder" was a previous production by 3-D Theatricals at the CCPA.

The production features set design by Stephen Gifford, projection design by Andrew Nagy, costume coordination by Alexandra Johnson, and sound design by Cricket Myers. Technical director is Jim Mora. Production Stage Manager is Donna Parsons. Assistant Stage Manager is Terry Hanrahan. Dialect coach is Caitlin Muelder.

Tickets for "Once" at the CCPA start at $25 and are available for purchase.
