New Delhi's Milk Scheme Introduces Fresh Dairy Offerings, Issues Booth Assignments
Delhi Milk Scheme Unveils New Dairy Products and Booth Allotments
In a significant move towards modernizing and strengthening Delhi's dairy ecosystem, the Delhi Milk Scheme (DMS) launched a range of new dairy products on August 13, 2025, at the NASC Complex, Pusa, New Delhi.
The event, attended by senior officials and stakeholders from the dairy sector, including Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Ram Avtar Garg, Chairman of Haryana Dairy Development Co-operative Federation Ltd., and Jagat Hazarika, Advisor DAHD, marked a progressive approach towards expanding and strengthening dairy offerings.
At the event, Rama Shankar Sinha, Additional Secretary DAHD, spoke about the digital launch of these products, aiming to strengthen product quality, enhance consumer trust, and empower livestock farmers. She also praised the efforts of DMS and the Haryana Milk Federation for introducing new products to the market.
Secretary Alka Upadhyaya highlighted the government's vision to reinforce the dairy ecosystem through improved products and inclusive growth across the value chain. She emphasized the importance of DMS-branded dairy products for Delhi and NCR, as they aim to meet evolving consumer preferences and diversify the DMS product portfolio.
In line with this vision, the new dairy products include Cow Milk and co-branded dairy products. The launch also saw the introduction of value-added beverages like lassi, jeera chaach, and kala khatta.
Moreover, the event reinforced the rural-urban dairy connection by allotting 22 new dairy booths. These booths join an extensive existing network of around 600 DMS booths and 500 affiliated outlets, improving accessibility of high-quality dairy products across Delhi-NCR.
The booth allotment scheme creates employment opportunities, especially targeted towards women and ex-servicemen, thereby strengthening rural-urban dairy linkages and supporting socio-economic empowerment of key stakeholders in the dairy value chain.
Additional Secretary Varsha Joshi emphasized the significance of these allotments, stating that they reflect the government's commitment to inclusive growth and product innovation in the dairy sector. The impact on livestock farmers is significant as the initiative connects them more directly with urban consumers, improving market access and potential income.
The focus on quality enhancement and a broader product range further bolsters the dairy ecosystem, benefiting farmers through better demand and linkage to organized supply chains. Overall, the DMS expansion aims to create a sustainable, value-driven environment for both producers and consumers in Delhi and NCR.
The Delhi Milk Scheme (DMS) expansion embraces a broader product range, introducing new dairy products such as Cow Milk, co-branded dairy products, value-added beverages like lassi, jeera chaach, and kala khatta, aiming to cater to evolving consumer preferences and diversify the DMS product portfolio. In tandem with this, the event announced the allotment of 22 new dairy booths, which not only improves accessibility of high-quality dairy products but also creates employment opportunities, particularly for women and ex-servicemen, thereby fostering a rural-urban dairy connection and supporting socio-economic empowerment in the home-and-garden, food-and-drink, and lifestyle sectors.
