Regensburg Joins Foodsharing Movement to Combat Food Waste

Regensburg has officially become a foodsharing city, with Mayor Ludwig Artinger expressing pride in the local volunteering dedication and signing a declaration of intent to combat food waste.

The city has partnered with the local foodsharing district to tackle the issue of food waste. Over 1,100 volunteers, known as 'Foodsavers', are already active in Regensburg, working with around 100 local businesses. The foodsharing movement aims to rescue and distribute edible food that would otherwise go to waste. Mayor Artinger praised the local volunteering commitment and reaffirmed Regensburg's dedication to sustainability and social responsibility. The partnership aims to increase appreciation for food, raise awareness of waste, and support the local foodsharing group.

Regensburg's partnership with the local foodsharing district is set to expand the city's food rescue efforts. With over 1,100 active volunteers, the initiative is well-positioned to make a significant impact on food waste reduction.
