Restoration of extraordinary artistry and magnitude takes place in the Cotswolds farmhouse, now available for purchase by the previous owners, Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi.
Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi, known for their house-flipping ventures, have once again made a significant impact on the property market. After purchasing Kitesbridge Farm in the picturesque Cotswolds last year for £15 million, they have listed it for sale at a staggering £22.5 million, adding approximately £7.5 million in value in just over a year.
The 43-acre farmhouse, located in a secluded part of the Windrush valley, is a masterpiece in itself. It boasts a fully-equipped gym, a pool, and a party barn with its own pub that sits above a heated five-car garage. The house also features a huge kitchen-diner with a TV large enough to be measured in square feet, and the decoration and furniture is elegant, simple, and neutral throughout, with flooring alternating between stone slabs and ancient timber.
The house sits centrally within its grounds and is loosely arranged as an L shape. DeGeneres and de Rossi brought in a team of 70 builders and craftspeople to expedite the restoration, which was initially estimated to be a 12- to 18-month project but was completed in a fraction of that time.
The gardens have been landscaped to keep a natural and organic feel, with a kitchen garden, lawns, paddocks, and outdoor spaces for al fresco dining and living. The village of Asthall is a few minutes away, and Soho Farmhouse, Estelle Manor, and other highlights of Oxfordshire are within easy reach.
John Betjeman, a famous poet, wrote about Kitesbridge Farm, praising its beauty. DeGeneres herself has stated that house flipping is her version of travel. However, the couple have recently decided to move full time to the UK and have sold Kitesbridge Farm, explaining the short ownership period despite the high added value.
DeGeneres and de Rossi have a reputation for 'flipping houses' and have reportedly done so as many as 50 times. They bought Kitesbridge Farm after paying over the asking price, with some sources indicating £15 million, above an asking price of around £12.5 million. The agent for Kitesbridge Farm's sale referred to it as a 'masterpiece' on Instagram.
Penny Churchill wrote about Kitesbridge Farm in a previous article, describing it as 'ingeniously transformed' and 'enchanting'. The house is now on the market for £22.5 million, ready for its next owners to create their own memories.
