Reversal at Abistreich: Now, Students Are Tasked with Both Painting and Bleaching

In a bid for a harmless joke, the graduating class of Eugen-Bolz-Gymnasium in Rottenburg, Baden-Württemberg, decided to use washable chalk spray on their school building. However, the joke turned sour when the chalk paint proved to be stubborn and required extensive cleaning and repainting[1].

The clean-up process, which began on Monday, has been ongoing for several hours each day until Wednesday. The students, armed with tape, brushes, and paint rollers, have been working tirelessly to remove the paint stains from the school buildings[1].

The city donated five buckets of paint for the cleanup effort, and the painter and his assistant also lent a helping hand. Despite the sweltering heat, the students have remained committed to making amends for their prank[1].

The total cost of the cleanup is now estimated to be 7,000 euros. The remaining costs will be covered by the class fund and donations collected at the graduation ball. As of now, the GoFundMe campaign for the cleanup costs has raised 4,785 euros[1].

The principal, Andreas Greis, has been understanding about the situation, assuming it was an accident. He hopes that future classes won't repeat the same idea[1].

The students, working with the motto: "We messed up, now we'll make it right," have been spending their summer holidays scraping, painting, and removing the chalk from the school building[1]. The bond between the students has grown stronger as a result of the cleanup effort.

It was discovered that the chalk spray used in the prank was labeled as washable, but this label only applied when the paint was still wet. Once it had dried, the color could not be removed[1]. The painter charged only for his working time, not for travel or inspection.

Principal Greis expressed his hope that the incident serves as a lesson to future students about the consequences of their actions[1]. The students, having learned from their mistake, are determined to make things right.
