Loum, often referred to as the "fairy godfather of shoes," started his journey in 2019, transforming old sneakers from his apartment into works of art. Jiika Styles welcomes an average of seven to eight walk-ins a day, in addition to regular clientele. The shop offers a service for giving old shoes a colourful second life, with a deep clean without custom design typically costing between €25-50. For a customised shoe, the cost ranges from €80 and up, depending on detail and time spent.
Loum compares the customisation process to tattoo design, with more detail and time equating to a higher price. He invites customers to discuss their design preferences with the artist or designer, select the sneakers they want customised (either their own or purchased from the shop), agree on the complexity of the design, materials used, and time frame, and finally, receive a price quote.
Despite his success in the customised shoe industry, Loum often suffers from imposter syndrome. However, his dedication and the positive response from his customers serve as a constant reminder of his talent and the impact he's making in the world of fashion.
