The Summer Learning Centre (SLC) in [location] hosted a memorable programme during the holidays, attracting 103 participants from all age groups, from grandparents to grandchildren. The event was expertly led by Deputy Library Director, Uta Krüger.

Participants engaged in various activities, with a total of 791 books being read throughout the programme. In addition, 253 audiobooks were listened to, reflecting the diverse reading preferences of the participants.

A highlight of the programme was the creation of the "Courage Dice", a unique and inspiring project led by Steffi Verfürth and Inge Schäben-Buscher during the third club meeting. The "Courage Dice" were designed to symbolise courage and resilience, and were presented to a special recipient, Marina Ritt, who later gifted them to Kinderhaus Viersen, a home for severely multiply disabled and permanently ventilated children.

The event culminated in a "Hero's Diploma" competition during the closing party, where everyone who had collected at least three stamps and submitted their logbook on time received an official SLC certificate and a small gift. Medals and small gifts were also awarded for the best logbooks.

Nadine van der Aar, a resident of Kinderhaus Viersen, was one of the recipients of the "Courage Dice". She took the opportunity to give a brief insight into life at the institution, expressing her gratitude to the SLC team for their support and the lovingly crafted dice.

Uta Krüger expressed her satisfaction with the SLC programme and her desire to build upon its success in the future. The event concluded on a high note, with more than 120 people attending the weekly club meetings and a photo opportunity at the VHS MediaLab, where participants could have their photo taken in a heroic pose in front of a green screen.
