Solingen's 'Hospital to Go' Project Transforms Demolition into Reuse Opportunity
An innovative project, 'Hospital to Go', is set to transform the demolition of the old 'House G' at the Municipal Clinic Solingen into an opportunity for resource reuse and community participation. Led by Dr. Maximilian Hoor, the project aims to reduce waste, lower CO2 emissions, and promote awareness of the circular economy.
The event will take place over two days: Friday, October 10 from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM, and Saturday, October 11 from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Participants are invited to take away usable furniture and equipment from the old building for free, giving these items a new life instead of sending them to disposal.
The project, part of the FAB.Region Bergisches Städtedreieck funding project, encourages social participation. It will showcase how a circular economy can work in practice, reducing material consumption and strengthening community awareness. Items up for grabs include loose furniture, doors, shelves, built-in cabinets, kitchens, office equipment, and more.
The 'Hospital to Go' project will take place at the Clinic Solingen, House G, Entrance U1, Gotenstraße 1. Participation is only possible after prior registration. By turning demolition into an opportunity for reuse and community involvement, the project sets a practical example of a circular economy in Solingen.
