Stargazing Experience: The Wild Retreat's Open-Air Exhibit of Inner Emotions
Adventure Awaits at The Wild Retreat
We're always on the lookout for exciting events close to home, and The Wild Retreat, formerly known as CRE8, doesn't disappoint! After a change in management, this nature-lover's paradise is stepping up its game with a communal vibe and a plethora of outdoor activities.
The Wild Retreat recently kicked off a monthly movie night extravaganza and kicked things off with a bang— Inside Out, a timeless film that's right up our alley. Despite catching it before, we jumped at the chance to experience it under a starlit sky.
We made our way to the revamped campground, noticing the injection of vibrant decorations, well-marked activity stands, and a palpable energy shift. Given the location's revamp and debut movie night, we weren't entirely sure of all the specifics. Initially, the ticket stated 7pm, but the graphic hinted at 6pm, so we arrived early, giving us ample time to check out the place and find the best seats.
The movie tent was a spacious outdoor haven teeming with comfy mats and seating spots, offering a warm, cozy ambiance. The film was projected in the center of the tent with crystal-clear audio playback. Outside the tent, we found a stage, various swings, and the happiness-inducing hammocks. Robin was particularly smitten with the hammocks. We also took time to ogle over the updates and improvements. My inner curious cat led me to the woodfire pizza oven, serving up a special dish for each movie night—this one was a cheesy fusion with broccoli, cleverly named after Inside Out's plot twist.
The pizza was a hit with the entire gang, barring Kai, who met a pesky broccoli mouthful. The pizza's seasoning brought the flavors together exceptionally well, and they offered complimentary sweets, sodas, and popcorn to boot! Due to limited snack options, we brought our own drinks and nibbles. I dabbled in their natural energy drinks, which lent a unique twist to the evening.
As the movie commenced under the night sky, we cuddled under blankets, enjoying the laid-back community atmosphere. The Wild Retreat seemed to be a hotspot for congeniality—everyone was warm and welcoming, leaving a lingering feeling of camaraderie. Although mosquitoes made an uninvited appearance, they were swiftly banished by an aromatic incense stick, courtesy of the owners.
Robin and Amelia have already asked about the next film and when we can return, eager to be a part of this blossoming family. If you're in the mood for a change of scenery and some quality time under the stars, this might just be the place to be!
