In a unique move, renowned Swedish designer Gustaf Westman has partnered with Kindred to offer overnight stays in his colorful and playful Stockholm apartment. The designer, known for his extravagant homeware and furniture designs, has transformed his living space into a showcase of his creative world.

Gustaf Westman, who established his eponymous studio in Stockholm in 2020, has gained recognition for his playful, curvy, and colorful designs. His work often blurs the line between art and practical design, sparking lively discussions about the balance between function and fun.

The apartment, which Westman has lived in for three years, is a full expression of his world. It features a mix of his creations, such as pieces from his Chunky, Curvy, and flower-shaped objects, and classic collectibles like the Michel Ducaroy-designed Ligne Roset's Togo Footstool and Small Settee, and a Vitra Akari 1AD Table Lamp. The pink kitchen and the cartoony objects like the Chunky Cup, Curvy Mirror, and Blob Sofa add to the vibrant and whimsical atmosphere.

Westman's designs have gained international attention, with notable collaborations such as a collection of tables made from recycled tights with Swedish Stockings, and a surreal, candy floss pink Chunky Car as part of a collaboration with Mercedes-Benz. In 2025, he announced a partnership with IKEA, signaling a rising profile in contemporary design.

Kindred's CEO and co-founder, Justine Palefsky, describes the initiative of swapping homes with Gustaf Westman as an "invitation to live inside someone else's creative mind." To stay in Gustaf Westman's Stockholm home, sign up on Kindred using the code GUS.TAF.

Gustaf Westman describes his apartment in three words: small, colorful, and light. He confessed that deciding to open up his home to a stranger was fun, and the hardest part might have been the cleaning or making space in his tiny wardrobe. The apartment is centrally located in the Swedish capital.

In addition to his Stockholm home, Gustaf Westman embarked on a European Pop-Up Tour in July 2025, visiting five homes around the world. The tour, powered by Kindred, will have pit stops in Amsterdam and Madrid in August and September 2025.

For those who cannot visit Gustaf Westman's apartment, his Instagram feed offers a glimpse into his creative world, showcasing his cartoony objects and designs. His work continues to challenge the norms of contemporary design, offering a refreshing and playful approach to homeware and furniture.
