Temporary Accommodation at Gasteig Located in Sendling
In the heart of Munich, the cultural center Gasteig in Haidhausen, established in 1985, has commenced its renovation, necessitating a temporary relocation for its institutional affiliates. The interim quarter, stationed near the Heizkraftwerk Süd power plant in Sendling, was thereby constructed to house the Gasteig's institutions.
Named after its new address, Hans-Preißinger-Straße 8, the interim center features the newly built Isarphilharmonie, a replacement for the concert hall Philharmonie. Aside from the Isarphilharmonie, Munich City Library has been relocated to Hall E, a renovated warehouse, and independent Hall X has been introduced for events. The Adult Education Center has taken up residence in House K since September 2022, while the Music Academy has several rooms in House G since October 1, 2022.
Catering services in Gasteig HP8 are managed by Florian August, with the restaurant "GAiA" being one of its establishments in House K. The designations "Gasteig HP8" and "Isarphilharmonie" were chosen from a naming competition.
While the interim quarter in Sendling serves as a temporary hub for concerts, cultural events, and artistic activities that were previously centralized at the Gasteig, the Isarphilharmonie concert hall stands as the future permanent venue for these institutions. The ongoing transition marks a significant chapter in the evolution of Munich's cultural landscape.
In this temporary hub, named Gasteig HP8, situated on Hans-Preißinger-Straße 8, a vibrant lifestyle unfolds with the incorporation of home-and-garden elements, as catering services are managed by Florian August, who oversees establishments such as the restaurant "GAiA" in House K. The home-and-garden atmosphere extends further with the Isarphilharmonie, a new addition in the heart of Sendling, acting as a future permanent venue for the city's cultural and artistic activities, thereby shaping the evolution of Munich's home-and-garden-inspired lifestyle.
