Three Bars in Hamburg Vie for the Title of "Bar of the Year 2025"
Revamped Article:
Mixology Magazine, a popular bar industry publication, has given out three awards to bars in the vibrant Hamburg scene. Here are the lucky recipients:
- Collab Bar, fêted as the 'New Bar of the Year' in St. Pauli, is a cash-only, walk-in-only joint, meaning you can only drop by with your credit card and no reservations needed. The young bar, under 12 months at the time of nomination, has immediately established itself as a cultural force and thought leader in Hamburg's bar scene and aims to be a permanent fixture both at home and in the German-speaking world.
Andre Karl Lembcke, the man behind Collab Bar, calls the recognition a fantastic affirmation. The concept of offering high-end cocktail creations—from boozeless to boozy—appears to be in step with the times. Lembcke muses, "Seeing the name of your own bar up there on that massive screen was an incredibly beautiful, even a bit surreal, moment, and our team's joy was enormous!"
- Jing Jing, a South-East Asian inspired venue near the Schanze, snagged the 'Restaurant-Bar of the Year' award. In addition to their drink list, the restaurant offers delicious Thai cuisine, and guests visit not just for a drink but also to dine. Mixology praises the harmony of world-class cocktail culture and outstanding kitchen, ensuring a winning combination for guests.
- Le Lion, a veteran of the scene, received the accolade as 'Bar Institution.' To be honored with this title, a bar must have been operational under the same name for at least ten years, and it should significantly influence the local scene while enjoying an excellent reputation across the German-speaking region. It goes without saying that Le Lion, home of Gin Basil Smash, is an undisputed pioneer in the cocktail world.
The title of 'Bar of the Year 2025' goes to Green Door Bar in Berlin, with Maria Gorbatschova, the first female Bartender of the Year, working there. The Mixology Bar Awards, an influential recognition in the German-speaking bar scene, have been presented since 2007.
