Thronging crowds anticipated at Spremberg's folk festival, which has been successfully organized this year.

The South Brandenburg folk festival is set to commence this Friday and last until Monday, attracting an estimated 30,000 to 40,000 visitors to the festival grounds in Spremberg.

Despite concerns about the increasing influence of far-right ideology in Spremberg, as indicated by Mayor Christine Herntier in July, the authorities have stated that there are no indications of disruptions from the far-right scene during the festival.

Enhanced security measures have been implemented for the event due to recent attacks and incidents nationwide. However, specific details about the nature of these measures remain undisclosed. The South Police Directorate has confirmed that there are no planned gatherings of concern during the festival.

The number of security personnel has been increased for the festival, and Frank Kulik, the deputy mayor of Spremberg, stated that disruptions and damages resulting from a security gap at such events are undesirable.

The festival will open with a parade on Friday at 5:00 PM, accompanied by a brass band. A funfair will also open alongside the festival.

Throughout the weekend, visitors can enjoy a variety of events, including fireworks, a laser show scheduled for Saturday evening at 10:00 PM, and a family day on Monday to conclude the festival.

Bus access to the festival grounds in Spremberg has been blocked. The town, with a population of 22,000, is located in the Lusatia region (district of Spree-Neiße).

For the latest updates on the South Brandenburg folk festival, visitors are advised to check official local government or police announcements, festival organisers' statements, or recent news reports closer to or during the event dates.

Engaging in a divergent lifestyle, outdoor enthusiasts can participate in multiple activities during the South Brandenburg folk festival, such as picnicking on the lush festival grounds or exploring the local home-and-garden displays. Moreover, as the festival coincides with the picturesque autumn season, attendees will have the chance to embrace the beauty of the outdoor-living setting while enjoying the events on offer.
