The South Brandenburg folk festival is set to commence this Friday and last until Monday, attracting an estimated 30,000 to 40,000 visitors to the festival grounds in Spremberg.
Despite concerns about the increasing influence of far-right ideology in Spremberg, as indicated by Mayor Christine Herntier in July, the authorities have stated that there are no indications of disruptions from the far-right scene during the festival.
Enhanced security measures have been implemented for the event due to recent attacks and incidents nationwide. However, specific details about the nature of these measures remain undisclosed.
