Milan Design Week 2025: 6:AM's Enchanting 'Two-Fold Silence' Exhibition

The Milan Design Week 2025 has unveiled a captivating exhibition, titled "Two-Fold Silence," by contemporary Murano glass brand 6:AM. This solo showcase, taking place at the historically significant Piscina Cozzi, a public pool in Milan, offers an immersive experience that blends tradition with innovation.

Founders Edoardo Pandolfo and Francesco Palù have meticulously curated the exhibition, bringing together new works, prototypes, and restored historical pieces. The installation reflects 6:AM's contemporary reinterpretation of Murano glass art, integrating traditional craftsmanship with a modern design narrative.

The unique setting of Piscina Cozzi, with its abandoned public shower stalls, provides an evocative backdrop for the exhibition. The installation creates a spellbinding atmosphere, with a juxtaposition of highly crafted glass against grimy tiles and crumbling walls. A series of chandeliers illuminate the corridors, guiding visitors deeper into the space, while some pieces are casually propped against the wall, enhancing the show's sense of accidental discovery.

The exhibition space is kept intact, allowing it to interact naturally with the work of 6:AM. It presents the creative universe of the brand, including past projects, prototypes, new pieces, and the evolving archive of 6:AM. One of the highlights is a wall-mounted cast Murano glass chandelier and a glass sculpture designed by Aldo Nason for Mazzega in the 1970s.

To enhance the transcendental experience of the exhibition, Pandolfo and Palù have added a soundscape by Invernomuto. The approach to curating the exhibition is more like a stream of consciousness, allowing objects and ideas to flow naturally through the environment.

6:AM, established in 2018, aims to bring Murano glass to a new audience. Their studio works on architectural installations, modular lighting, furniture, and sculptural objects in collaboration with Murano's master artisans. The studio's name, 6:AM, is a nod to the early hour at which Murano glassmakers fire up their furnaces each day.

The venue, Piscina Cozzi, is architecturally significant with origins dating back to the 1930s and is recognized as a monumental Milan landmark. This historical and cultural context adds an extra layer of depth to the exhibition. The exhibition runs until September 21, 2025, as part of the broader Milan Design Week 2025 experience that includes various immersive and site-specific installations.
