In a bid to enhance the aesthetic appeal and comfort of commuters, the underpass at Eller-Süd S-Bahn station has undergone a significant transformation. The redesign project, spearheaded by the Krefeld design agency Tubuku, was jointly funded by the District 8, the city of Düsseldorf, and Deutsche Bahn.

The redesigned underpass, now a new attraction in Eller, boasts vibrant, colorful motifs that bring a touch of art to the daily commute. Local landmarks such as St. Gertrude's Church, the old tram, and Eller Castle have been tastefully incorporated into the new design.

Mayor Thomas Geisel, District Mayor Wilhelm van Leyen, and Jürgen Hagendorn, Chairman of the Retail Association, were present at the unveiling of the newly redesigned underpass. Hagendorn expressed hope that the Eller residents and travelers will appreciate the new look.

Tubuku, a graffiti art collective comprising Alex Weigandt and Jaroslaw Masztalerz, was responsible for the artistic aspect of the redesign. The duo has previously executed numerous street art projects of a similar nature.

Jürgen Hagendorn also highlighted that the advertising community has ensured that Eller-Süd S-Bahn station has been free of graffiti for over 13 years. The District 8 representative body covered the costs for the beautification of the underpass by the graffiti artists.

The redesigned underpass at Eller-Süd S-Bahn station is intended to serve as an example for other S-Bahn stations. The aim is to create a more inviting and enjoyable commuter experience across the city.

As of now, specific details about the cost of the project and its effects on commuters are not readily available. However, research suggests that public transit underpass redesigns can lead to improved safety, increased foot traffic, and a more positive commuter experience. These benefits are expected to be realised in the long run as the Eller-Süd S-Bahn station undergoes its transformation.

For more information about the project, local transportation authority websites, city planning documents, or news outlets covering infrastructure updates may provide additional details.

The redesigned underpass, now a new attraction in Eller, not only serves as an example for other S-Bahn stations, but also extends the home-and-garden aesthetic to the daily lifestyle of commuters, as local landmarks have been tastefully incorporated into the new design.

Mayor Thomas Geisel, District Mayor Wilhelm van Leyen, and Jürgen Hagendorn, Chairman of the Retail Association, envision that the lifestyle improvement brought by the newly designed underpass will be positively received by Eller residents and travelers.
