Vision of Healthcare's Future Enhancements

The annual American Telemedicine Association (ATA) conference is scheduled for May, with a focus on discussing the latest developments and challenges in the virtual care landscape. This three-day event will take place in person in Boston, providing an opportunity for healthcare professionals to share insights and collaborate on finding solutions.

Aaron Martin, Chief Digital Officer at Loadsmart, has emphasized the importance of finding partners with a "small story and big story" for healthcare organizations. The "small story" refers to generating a quick return on investment, while the "big story" is about long-term growth. This approach is expected to be a key theme at the ATA conference.

The conference will cover a wide range of topics, including Big Data, Management, Patient-Centered Care, Patient Data Management, and Patient Experience. One of the anticipated sessions will be a discussion on reducing health disparities through virtual care. Another potential topic is the hospital at home concept, which could offer insights into its potential as a means to achieve this goal.

The hospital at home concept, which involves providing acute care services to patients in their own homes, has been a topic of discussion at other recent healthcare technology conferences. For instance, at HIMSS22, experts discussed the advancements and challenges for at-home acute care services and interoperability. Joan Imrich, director of advanced analytics at Johnson & Johnson, noted that moving care from hospitals to homes is a significant challenge, but one that is worth addressing to improve patient outcomes.

The ATA conference will also likely address the potential of virtual care in achieving all components of the Quadruple Aim, which includes improving patient outcomes, reducing costs, enhancing the patient experience, and improving the work-life of healthcare providers.

Last year, the collaboration between CHIME and HLTH, known as ViVE, took place in Miami. ViVE featured sessions on digital health, health equity, value-based care, and strategic partnerships for better business outcomes. Aimee Quirk, CEO of Ochsner Ventures at Ochsner Health, stated that healthcare organizations need to consider various approaches and models to find success. The ATA conference aims to build upon these discussions and continue the conversation about the future of virtual care.

As the healthcare industry continues to evolve, conferences like the ATA conference play a crucial role in bringing together experts to discuss the latest advancements and challenges. By attending, attendees will have the opportunity to learn from industry leaders, network with peers, and contribute to the ongoing conversation about the future of healthcare.
