Worshippers of Rheda-Wiedenbrück have their religious services amidst the summer ambiance in a beer garden.
The Pastoral Union Reckenberg is gearing up for another round of their popular "Summer Church" events, which are set to continue as part of the Marian week. These religious gatherings offer a unique and unconventional setting, taking place not just in churches, but also outdoors and at various unusual locations.
The next event will take place on August 16th at 6 pm in the parish garden of St. Aegidius. Previous events have seen masses held in a beer garden during the fire department festival in Lintel, under large sun umbrellas, and even under an airy parachute. The organisers have also been known to make use of cool vehicle halls and creative structures, such as the large cross made from ladders and hoses by the fire department in Lintel, which was praised by Pfarrdechant Reinhard Edeler.
These events provide an opportunity for believers from surrounding communities to gather and celebrate mass in a different setting, connecting and celebrating their faith in a unique way. The success of the "Summer Church" events is evident, with many attending each event.
Pfarrdechant Reinhard Edeler has expressed his gratitude towards the firefighters for their work and their successful idea of creating the cross. He also used the Westphalian term 'Gutt is' to praise their efforts.
